Our Master of Science in Nursing program is the first in Colorado to offer an emphasis in Acute-Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), with interest areas such as critical care, cardiology, pulmonary, neurology, oncology, or trauma.
Career Path
Upon graduation, you’re prepared to assume primary responsibility in hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, urgent-care centers, and other health care settings.

Program Goals
- Prepare you to provide quality care along the continuum of aging in multiple environments utilizing the nursing process.
- Assist you with facilitating competent care of human needs through multi-theoretical perspectives leading to competence in role development.
- Develop skills to nurture, improve, and further your critical thinking through commitment, compassion, clinical confidence, and competence.
- Identify research problems and develop research studies to determine the appropriateness of care and treatment in APN practice.
- Prepare you to provide care that is dynamic and evolving to meet health care needs of clients within the domains of advanced practice nursing.
Certification and Specialization
- Upon completion of additional clinical practice and or theory courses, you may apply for certification in other areas of clinical concentration in Adult Acute Care and Family Nurse Practitioner, which is facilitated through an integrated curriculum.
- The program also offers a Clinical Nurse Specialist Emphasis that allows you to choose your own specialization.
- The Program has developed a degree plan for the Clinical Nurse Specialist Emphasis, allowing you to choose either the Nurse Educator or the Psychiatric Mental Health specialization.
