Parent Frequently Asked Questions
Have Questions? The answers are probably here.

  1. Why should my student come to CSU-Pueblo?
  2. The only reason your son/daughter should attend any college or university is because it’s the right place and a good fit for him/her and his/her college goals.

  3. What is the average class size? What is the faculty to student ratio?
  4. The average class size at CSU-Pueblo is 25. Some freshman lecture classes can be larger, with up to 100 students, but any lab or English or math class will be closer to 25. Some major classes are even smaller, with 10-15 students.

  5. Can freshmen have cars on campus? Is adequate parking available?
  6. Yes, as long as they have a CSU-Pueblo parking permit. There is more than enough student parking available, with a lot reserved just for students who live in the Belmont Residence Hall.

  7. How safe is campus?
  8. Campus is very safe. Students are encouraged to take precautions to prevent minor crimes, like locking their doors when they leave, locking their cars, and walking with a group of students or an escort after dark.

  9. What does it cost to attend CSU-Pueblo?
  10. Tuition and fees for 2007-08 for 12 semester hours for a Colorado resident is $4,156 and for non-residents is $14,515. Room and board is $6,000 per year.

  11. What type of meal plans are available?
  12. A variety of meal plans are available which include combinations of meals in the Columbine Café, which is cafeteria dining, and Fiesta Cash which is discounted dining in any of the other campus dining locations. The Columbine Café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday thru Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday; the maximum number of meals available is 19 in one week. For example, if a student has a meal plan with 15 meals per week, they can choose which 15 meals they want to eat in the Columbine Café and use Fiesta Cash for their remaining four meals. Students also eat off-campus occasionally or may have a quick breakfast like a granola bar or pop tarts on their way to class.

  13. Why can’t I have access to my student’s grades and other campus information?
  14. Once a person becomes enrolled as a student at CSU-Pueblo, he/she is protected by FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), which protects a student’s personal information, including course schedule, grades, and other relevant information. See the section on FERPA for additional information.

  15. I will be paying my student’s bill, how will I know how much it is?
  16. A student can email you a copy of their bill, which is available to them via the web.
